Shirahama 白浜 is a famous resort area in Wakayama-ken 和歌山県. Some of the famous sight-seeing points are Engetsutou 円月島, Kaichuu Tenboutou (Undersea Observation Tower) 海中展望塔, and Shirarahama 白良浜.
Engetsutou 円月島 is a small island just located west of the shore with a hole in it. In certain dates of the year, the sun would set so that you can see the setting sun in the hole of the island.
Kaichuu Tenboutou (Undersea Observation Tower) 海中展望塔 is an observation tower built from the sea bed up above the sea-level. On a good day without much sea current, you can go down the tower to observe sea life near the sea bed.
Shirarahama 白良浜 is a fine sand beach.
Unfortunately, on the day of visit, Typhoon 18 is approaching, so the weather was not good.
The nearest train station is Shirahama station 白浜駅 of JR Kisei Main Line 紀勢本線.
