Kanmon Tunnel Jindou 関門トンネル人道
Kanmon Tunnel 関門トンネル are the undersea tunnels at Kanmon Kaikyou 関門海峡 linking Fukuoka-ken Kitakyuushuu-shi Moji-ku 福岡県北九州市門司区 at the island of Kyuushuu 九州 side and Yamaguchi-ken Shimonoseki-shi 山口県下関市 at the main island Honshuu 本州 side.
Kanmon Tunnel 関門トンネル has 3 tunnels : 1 for car traffics, 1 for train traffics, and 1 for Shinkansen 新幹線 traffics. The car traffics one has a separate partition for pedestrian called Jindou 人道. This page concentrates on the Jindou 人道.
The Kanmon Tunnel Jindou 関門トンネル人道 is 56-58m below sea-level and is 780m in length. The walk across the harbor takes around 10 minutes and is free of charge. Halfway through the tunnel is the prefectural borderline between Yamaguchi-ken 山口県 and Fukuoka-ken 福岡県.
